Remember all those rumors about a Galaxy S5 with a gorgeous QHD display? Well it turns out that may become a reality after all as a Galaxy S5 has been spotted on a benchmark site, and it has 1440 x 2560 QHD display.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a mystery device appear on GFXBench, and it sure won’t be the last. The device’s model number is SM-G906S, and it packs most of the same hardware of the Galaxy S5 with a few major differences. First off, it has a 5.2-inch display with a resolution of 1440 x 2560. This means it’s a hair bigger than the S5 and the screen is obviously sharper due to the bump in resolution.

As for the processor, the SM-G906S will sport a quad-core processor that outperforms the Exynos-based chip in the Galaxy S5, and the GPU in the new device is an Adreno 420 compared to the 330 in the S5. The benchmarks also show 3GB of RAM, so the SM-G906S is definitely a step up over the recently released Galaxy S5.

It remains to be seen if the SM-G906S will carry the Galaxy S moniker when it hits the streets… if it ever hits the streets. The device definitely appears to be the “Premium” version of the Galaxy S5 we all heard so much about, as all the innards are the same except for the all-important processor, screen, and memory. Stay tuned, as we do expect to hear more about the SM-G906S in the coming weeks.
