Did Sony just out the Xperia Z2 for Verizon?

Sony puts out some of the slickest handsets on the planet, but if you’re in the US, they’re not all that easy to get. A lot of folks were perturbed when they heard the Xperia Z2 wouldn’t be coming to the US through carriers, but a leaked picture that hit the web today says otherwise…

You have to love social media. Earlier today the Sony Xperia Google+ page had a bit of a blunder as up went an image that showed the Sony Xperia Z2 lying serenely on a bed of rocks – with Verizon branding. There was no mention of Verizon in the post as it just said, “Be prepared for every adventure in the great outdoors with the waterproof and dust-resistant Xperia Z2.” As you’d expect, the post was quickly pulled.

While it’s possible this is some strange sort of ruse, it seems highly unlikely that whoever runs Sony’s G+ page would just be sitting around trying out different carrier logos on the Z2 in Photoshop. Stay tuned, we’ll keep a close eye on this one as a lot of costumers will be overjoyed if the Z2 is headed to Big Red.
