Kickstarter Pick of the Week: The Marbel Electric Skateboard

Hoverboards are probably still a hundred years off, but electric skateboards are already here. None however, are quite as cool as the Marbel electric skateboard which has just launched on Kickstarter.

The Marbel board is unique for several reasons and it’s a lot lighter than you’d expect an electric skateboard to be as it only weighs 9.9 pounds. It’s not heavy and its shows as the board is speedy enough to travel uphill at 20 MPH. If you’re wondering how you control it, wonder no more as there’s a handheld remote that controls the speed and breaking – you just need to lean to turn like on a longboard.marbel

Having a fast, sleek electric skateboard is all for naught if the juice runs out a few blocks from your house. That shouldn’t happened with the Marbel board considering it’s got enough juice to send you 20 miles down the road on a charge. Did we mention the deck is made out of Kevlar and Carbon Fiber?

If you’ve been impressed with the Marbel’s prowess so far, prepare to be even more impressed as you can set modes for the board through your smartphone. Starter Mode for instance, only lets you go 6 MPH and cuts the acceleration to 25% while Sports mode lets you cut loose at full speed. You can also customize the settings any way you choose.4aa9c7e3766456aae7437ee7d3eb63b8_large

The Marbel board is beyond cool, and if you want one it’s going to cost you. The first two ‘Early Bird’ tiers are gone so $1,199 will snag you a Marbel board in January of 2015. If you want to choose the color of the deck, wheels, and bearings it’ll set you back $2,000.

Marbel’s Kickstarter has just begun and they’ve already blown by their funding goal so it’s safe to say this one’s going to get funded. If you want to check out the Marbel board just hit up the link below.
