Moto E officially announced, another low-end phone from Motorola

Motorola’s success with the Moto G has spurred them on to make another budget handset, named the Moto E. From a design standpoint, it looks very familiar and we believe Motorola are trying to make their new devices look like a family.

Internally it is less pleasant, the 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor, 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage are enough to make Android KitKat 4.4 run smooth, but nothing to be excited about, same goes for the 4.3-inch 540 x 960 display.

The design of the device is apparently scratch proof and water resistant, but not to any high certification. This means throwing the Moto E in the bath might not be the best idea and Motorola has no guarantees it will survive the fall.

One of the major features Motorola is touting with the Moto E is the all day battery life, thanks to the 1940mAh battery. This is small for a high-end phone, but for a budget end phone with a lower resolution display, it can pump out a full day of juice.

The Moto E will be available in a number of different styles and colors and these will be removable like the Moto G. This is a big appeal factor in China, where users like to have customisation and choice with their smartphone appearance.

Motorola obviously knows where the big sales lie and with the help of their new owners Lenovo, they may be able to break into various markets in Asia. The Moto G has been one of the best sellers on Indian retailer websites like Flipkart, showing the success of the cheap phone.

With the Moto E breaking barriers on price once again, we can see this being an even bigger success, even though Motorola isn’t announcing prices for those markets or European markets, only focusing on the $129 price tag in the United States for the time being.
