We knew Google would talk about Android Wear today and show off a couple of smartwatches. They did just that, and they’re even sending lucky attendees of Google I/O home with one, and mailing another to them later. Swag aside, the LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live were finally unveiled, and you’ll be able to pre-order one today.lg g watch

What was shown off with the Android Wear platform was impressive, and the LG G Watch was the main star of the show. Several functions were demoed including voice commands, music, messaging, and navigation. The voice commands and the way you interact with the UI seemed fluid and easy for anyone to pick up on, and you can bet developers will have a field day with the .SDK, which will be available shortly.g-watch

As for the watches, the LG G Watches specs have finally been confirmed, and you’ll be getting a Snapdragon 400 (1.2GHz), 512MB of RAM and 4G of storage under a 1.65-inch IPS display. There’s a 400mAh battery under the hood as well, although it remains to be seen how the battery life will pan out.44444

The Samsung Gear Live was announced as well and it appears to be similar to the G Watch. It has a 1.63-inch display, and while the specs weren’t announced, we assume it has the same innards of the Gear 2. It’s not the sleekest smartwatch on the block, but it will be one of the cheapest.

Pre-orders begin today for both smartwatches and pricing has finally been announced. The LG G Watch will set you back $229 while the Gear Live will be cheaper at only $199. Both are IP67 rated, and are scheduled to start shipping out on July 7th. Pre-orders are scheduled to kick off anytime, we’ll update with links as soon as they do.
