HP Red

We love a good leak as much as the next site, and a we got a doozy today from a very unlikely source. Ready to get the lowdown on the 16-inch HP Red?

A device dubbed the “HP Red” showed up on benchmarking site GFXBench with some pretty impressive specs in tow – considering it’s HP. The Red will have a massive 16-inch display with 5-finger gesture support and a resolution of 2048 x 1536. As for the processor, you’re looking at a Snapdragon 800 quad-core chip clocked at 2.26GHz, an Adreno 330 GPU, 1.8GB of RAM and 12GB of internal storage.hpred-2

The rear camera on the HP Red is of the 7MP variety and while the front-facing camera comes in at 2MP. Both can handle FHD video recording as well. Unfortunately, there is no mention of a microSD card slot, but the Red will have plenty of bells & whistles including a pedometer, barometer, Wi-Fi, NFC, and Bluetooth. It’ll also run Android 4.4.2.

The HP Red is an odd beast to say the least. It’s far bigger than most tablets, so it could be a tablet/destktop combo of sorts that just happens to run Android. That said, it has some unusual features for either device, so it’s anyone’s guess at this point. We’ll definitely keep an eye on the HP Red in the months ahead as HP isn’t known for their high-powered Android slates.
