Smartphone manufacturers are battling for supremacy in emerging markets, and they’re waging war with low-cost handsets that have mediocre specs. Those budget smartphones occasionally trickle out to larger markets, and that is what’s happened with the Kogan Agora 4G, which has just arrived in the UK.

Kogan has partnered with BenQ on the device dubbed the Kogan Agora 4G, and as the name implies, it’s a 4G LTE handset. The display on the Agora is of the 5-inch 720p variety, and behind that glass you’ll find a Snapdragon 400 clocked at 1.2GHz, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage to go along with a 2520mAh battery.

The Kogan Agora 4G sports dual shooters – the rear comes in at a respectable 8MP while the front-facing snapper is 2MP. It has all the usual bells & whistles as well including Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0, GPS, Wi-Fi and 2G/3G/4G connectivity. It also has a microSD card slot so you’ll be able to increase that weak 8GB of storage up to 64GB.

As far as the specs go, the Kogan Agora 4G isn’t going to knock your socks off. It is cheap however, and it’s hard to argue with an unlocked £149 smartphone that runs Android Kitkat 4.4 out of the box. The Agora 4G is available to purchase at Kogan, and you can take advantage of its 4G capabilities at Three or EE in the UK.
