The Nixie Drone is a Flying Wristband that Snaps Selfies

We cover a lot of Kickstarter projects here at Techoven, and every once in a while we come across a concept or gadget that blows us away. The Nixie drone is one of those gadgets, and it’s something you just have to see to believe.

The Nixie drone is a flying wearable, and it has to be one of the coolest things we’ve seen this year. It’s essentially a quadcopter drone that’s built to wrap around your wrist like a bracelet. Nixie is designed so that a quick flip of the wrist would send the little copter airborne where it would lock on to your position and hover – before snapping a picture.

Once the Nixie snaps the ultimate selfie, it returns to you so that you can catch it and reattach it to your wrist. If you’re thinking it’s just a concept, you’re wrong as there’s already a video of a rough prototype in action that you can see below.

It may be a while before we see the mini quadcopter in actual production, but the Nixie drone is off to a great start. The gadget is currently part of Intel’s “Make it Wearable” contest which is in the final stages of the competition. You can find out more about the Nixie Drone and all the other finalists at the link below.
