Smartphone manufacturers constantly strive to top each other when it comes to thinness and lightness. Current technology will only let you take things so far without sacrificing some specs, but nobody told Oppo that. Today the company announced the Oppo R5, and at 4mm it’s the slimmest phone on the planet.

The Oppo R5 was one of two devices Oppo showed off today, and as we mentioned, it’s the slimmest device you’ll lay eyes on this year. It’s an aluminum clad handset so it’s light at 155grams, and it’s full measurements are 148.9mm x 74.5mm x 4mm. If you think the Oppo R5 is all about the looks, you’d be wrong as it’sgot quite a bit of pop under the hood.

Oppo is making use of the new 64-bit chips, and they’ve included an octa-core Snapdragon 615 under the hood of the Oppo R5. The rest of the specs include a 5.2-inch FHD display, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage. It will come with a 13MP/5MP camera combo, and run Android KitKat 4.4.2 with Color OS 2.0 slathered on top. Rounding things out is a 2,000mAh battery with rapid charging tech, WiFi, Bluetooth, LTE, 3G, GPS, and all the usual suspects.

Oppo hasn’t set a release date for the Oppo R5 yet, but it’s coming soon and it’s a stylish handset that certainly won’t take up much space in your pocket. It’s also not going break the bank as it’s priced at $499 unlocked when it arrives.
