From the Far East: The Otium Balloon Smartwatch

There have been a number of smartwatch releases in the US this week, but we’re going to take a look at something a bit different with the Otium Balloon smartwatch. The oddly named wearable looks absolutely nothing like a balloon, and isn’t in the same class as the G Watch R, but it does have one thing going for it. This wearable from the Far East will extremely cheap…

Otium is a brand you’re probably not familiar with, and we hadn’t heard of them until a few weeks ago ourselves. The company has already cranked out several “interesting” handsets, and the Otium Balloon smartwatch will be the 5th wearable in its roster when it hits the streets. It’s also rumored to go for around $50 bucks which would be around $200 less than the Moto 360.

As you can see from the photos, the Otium Balloon smartwatch is indeed a smartwatch, and not actually a balloon. It can however be removed from its strap and clipped to your gear or worn on a necklace or strap like a new age Flavor Flav. Whatever floats your boat. We also know it will be waterproof up to 50 meters and is said to have an amazing 4-month battery life.

Nothing else is known about the Otium Balloon smartwatch in terms of its specs, and we have no idea what OS it will run. It willy probably be Android in some form as their Otium Watch runs Android 4.2.2. If you’re intrigued by this gadget from the Far East or curious about their other wares, you can check out the Otium Mobile site.
