Kickstarter Pick of the Week: The ZANO Drone

Zano Drone

Drones just aren’t for enthusiast or techies anymore. The prices have started to drop and the tech has gotten more manageable which means we’re starting to see cheaper, smaller drones. The ZANO drone is a new flying gadget that’s just made its way to Kickstarter, and we have chosen it for our Kickstarter Pick of the Week.

ZANO is an autonomous drone, and while that’s nothing new, it has a few things that make it unique and well worth a look. For starters, it’s portable and not in the “fits in a suitcase” type of way. As you can see from the photo, it’s small, and that little black dot on the front is actually a camera. Yup, it’s a mini-drone with a 5MP camera that can follow you around and take the ultimate selfie.

As we mentioned, the ZANO drone is an “autonomous” drone which basically means it’s a smart-drone of sorts. It has obstacle avoidance, and a failsafe solution that ensure the drone will return to your mobile if its battery gets low or it starts to lose signal. It can fly by itself and track you or you can take over the with a set of on-screen joysticks via your smartphone. It also has removable batteries so you won’t have to worry about having limited flight time.

The ZANO Drone has tripled its Kickstarter funding goal of   £125,000 and there is still plenty of time left on the clock. At this time, the cheapest drone available is the Super Early Bird edition, and it can be yours for £139, but there are only a handful left. The £149 tier seems to be open, so you should be good to go on that one for the time being.
