The Samsung Galaxy A5 begins its European rollout

Samsung Galaxy A5

The Samsung A Series has been making its rounds through the rumor mill since earlier this year, and one device in the lineup has just made its European debut. It’s the Samsung Galaxy A5, and it may be the next handset  you own if you’re in the market for a mid-range smartphone.

Samsung has produced dozens of budget Android handsets this year, and the Samsung Galaxy A5 falls into that category. That said, it follows Samsung’s new design philosophy, and does not have the typical mid-range specs we normally see in cheaper handsets.

The Galaxy A5 is a thin 5-inch handset with a Super AMOLED 720p display. Under the glass, you’ll find a 64-bit Snapdragon 410, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of expandable storage. Definitely not mid-range specs. The rear camera is listed as a 13MP unit while the front-facing cam comes in at 5MP. Throw in all the usual bells and whistles in the connectivity department and a 2,300mAh battery, and you’ve just met the A5.

If you’re looking to pick up the Galaxy A5, you’ll have to reside in Russia for the moment as that appears to be its first stop on the European tour. The converted price of the unlocked handset comes out to around $440 bucks in the states which is certainly reasonable for the specs and build quality. If you’d rather have something more expensive, they will release the Galaxy A7 in the near future and there’s the Galaxy A3 if you’d prefer something a bit cheaper.

Is the Samsung Galaxy A5 something you’d be interested in or would you rather spend a bit more to have the best handset around?
