Asus ZenWatch 2 release date set for Q3

We aren’t quite to the point to where we can say smartwatches are a “dime a dozen” but that day may not be far off. The Asus ZenWatch 2 is one of many upcoming wearables, and today we got word that the ZenWatch 2 release date may be coming sooner than folks think.

We took a look at the Asus VivoWatch back in April, but that was one of many wearables Asus has set to debut. The Asus ZenWatch 2 is a smartwatch that goes for the classic look where other wearables try to be sporty or look cheap. It’s one of the few smartwatches that could actually be confused for a wristwatch, and it’s a nice step up for the original ZenWatch.

The Asus ZenWatch 2 has been making the rounds through the rumor mill for some time, and one of the big draws is supposed to be the battery life. Originally, the company was shooting for a battery life of around 7-days, but a recent remark from Asus CEO Jerry Shen says consumers can expect around 4-days of juice when the ZenWatch 2 hits the streets.

As for that release date, previous rumors put the watch on track for a 2016 release, but that’s not the case anymore. Shen has confirmed the Asus ZenWatch 2 will be shown at Computex, which begins on June 2 in Taipei. We’ll know more about the pricing and specifications at that time, and the watch should make its retail debut in Q3 of this year.
