Huawei’s handsets and tablets generally stay in their homeland, but we’ve started seeing more devices hit Europe and the states over the past year. The company just unveiled the Huawei MediaPad M2 today, and it’s scheduled to arrive in France towards the end of the month.

The Huawei MediaPad M2 is a tablet that has a low price tag, with better than average specs. It’s not quite flagship material when compared to slates like the Nexus 9 or the upcoming iPad Pro, but it can hold its own with most Android-based tablets.

Huawei didn’t drop a 2K panel into the Huawei MediaPad M2 as some manufactuers are doing this year. Instead, they opted to go with a 8-inch 1,920 x 1,200 display. Beneath the glass beats an octa-core Kirin 930 processor with 2GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage.

Other options to note include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, an 8MP/2MP camera combo and 4G. The slate has a microSD card slot for expandable storage, and will run Android 5.0 out of the box as well, which is never a bad thing. On the downside, the battery is a bit small for a tablet, as you’re only getting a 4,800mAh battery under the hood.

The Huawei MediaPad M2 release is set to arrive in France later this month, and the tablet is expected to roll out to other regions soon after. The tablet price is said to be €349, which certainly makes it an option if you are in the market for an Android-based slate.
