Juice up your smartphone with the Solar Paper Charger from Yolk

Out of the countless ways you can charge up your mobile, solar power is a method that hasn’t really caught on yet. That’s partly due to the size of those chargers, but the folks at Yolk believe they’ve found the solution with Solar Paper charger.

Solar Paper is billed as the world’s thinnest and lightest solar charger, and while we didn’t put it to the test, it’s pretty darned skinny. The gadget is geared to slide into a notebook with two USB ports for charging and three different sizes of charger. You should be able to charge up almost any gadget, and it’s easy on the eyes as well.

As for the tech specs, the Solar Paper charger measures 9cm x 19cm x 1.1cm and weighs 120grams. It has an auto-reset feature to deal with low light and a small LED display that shows the load the charger is generating. Want to stack charging panels for more juice? Not a problem thanks to some magnets and it’s waterproof to boot. Charging times will obviously vary by device, but Yolk claims it can charge up an iPhone 6 in around 2 ½ hours.

At the moment, there are three models of the Solar Paper available with 5W, 7.5W, and 10W chargers. Pricing varies depending on which one you choose but ranges between $79 for a single to $450 for a 10 pack. The Solar Paper charger Kickstarter has over a month left in their campaign if you’d like to show your support or snag a charger.
