Windows 10 Mobile has been released to everyone it's a free update to the eligible phones listed below.

To upgrade you need to install the Upgrade Advisor app (link in the Deal link and below) which will check your phone and allow you to enable the Windows 10 update, and clear up space if needed. I would always recommend backing up any data before updating too!

The update is not mandatory and there is no time limit like the Windows 10 update on the desktop, so there is absolutely no rush to update.

I updated my Lumia 435 yesterday, bought from the Carphone Warehouse deal last year, the update was slow at almost 2 hours so have it plugged into power, but it went very smooth, after then updating the built in apps and a 2nd much quicker (~10 minutes) system update the phone's been working fine since.
The interface has had a nice refresh, the Settings app is nicely organised into groups and the expanded Quick Actions are far more useful now, also web browsing on the Edge browser is noticeably quicker than IE was on 8.1 before.
However people resistant to any form of change may not like the update as there is a very mild learning curve, mainly from interface changes such as apps now use a 'hamburger' menu system like on Android.

There are also some caveats to the update which I have noticed, the biggest is the new owners of the HERE applications have announced that all the HERE applications will cease to work after the 30th June 2016 on Windows 10, the built in Maps app which uses the same HERE mapping data will continue to work the built in Maps app also includes a voice turn by turn navigation (which also seems to work offline) but bare this in mind before updating.
Also like Windows 10 updates on the desktop, updates will download and install automatically however your mobile data connection should be classed as a 'Metered Connection' which will prevent system updates using up your data allowance when you're not on WiFi.
You also loose the ability to have lockscreens such as the 'Weather' lockscreen and are now limited just to pictures.

Eligible phones are the Lumia 1520, 930, 640, 640XL, 730, 735, 830, 532, 535, 540, 635 1GB, 636 1GB, 638 1GB, 430, 435, BLU Win HD w510u, BLU Win HD LTE x150q, MCJ Madosma Q501

All SIM free phones should be eligible right now however network branded/locked versions may not be yet.
